Yoga for LivingIssue: Gemini 09 - The Summer Reading Issue

Siddhartha

siddhartha_254This summer I recommend revisiting an old classic, "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse. The story of a man who seeks truth, Siddhartha journeys through various ways of life before he finds it’s meaning.  He is a Brahmin, a merchant, a lover, a wandering ascetic, a ferryman and a father. Each role reveals to him what he must do in order to be one with the world.  Rejecting the teachings of the Buddha and the Hindu ascetics, Siddhartha finds his own way and eventually reaches his desired state of oneness with the world. His journey is full of surprises and his story one to which spiritual seekers from all traditions can relate.

Simple yet profound, Siddhartha is sure to inspire readers everywhere. dots

Sagittarius 08 & Honest Self Expression

The Yoga of Self Expression

The goal of yoga is to know our selves. In these terms, our self is defined as our true nature, the part of us unconditioned by judgments of good or bad. The part of us that is perfect and whole.

Strengthen Your Core With Mountain and Plank

The tendency to "bend over backwards" for others can manifest in the physical body and cause back pain. Increasing core strength in body and mind can bring some relief from the habit of overextending the self.
